Will I look Good In A Cocktail Dress Despite My Body Type?

A Cocktail Dress Differnt Body TypeThe cocktail dress is now considered an all-round garment and not worn only to those more special of functions. The cocktail dress need not sit in your wardrobe waiting for the next posh do, as designs and the availability of a plethora of accessories make the dress useful for many other occasions.

The cocktail dress need not even be considered just a party dress either, because it maybe you just need that extra bit of smartness. There is such a wide range of available styles, you could even wear one to the office and I don't mean necessarily the office party. A cocktail dress need not be too garish to wear to work from time to time.

You have to consider your choice of dress very carefully. The style you choose will largely depend on your body type and unless you are a supermodel, it is just a fact of life that any woman has to consider, after all, making the wrong choice could accentuate any humps and bumps that you would rather not draw attention too.

Not to put too fine a point on it women generally come in two figure types, top heavy and bottom heavy. Being aware of what body type you are will help in your choice of cocktail dress.

Women, who's figure's may be categorized as top heavy may want to choose a dress that diverts or draws attention to their legs by wearing a cocktail dress that has a top of solid color and a patternated skirt with a high hem line to attract any onlookers eyes towards their legs.

The top heavy girl may also wish to high-light her breast area by wearing a cocktail dress with a long skirt but a low or V-neck top to reveal a little cleavage, perhaps, or a combination of the two. What is a definite "no no" is to wear a top with a busy pattern this will have the effect of amplifying her areas of concern.

Women who consider themselves to have bottom heavy figures need to guide admiring eyes towards their upper body and face by wearing a patterned top and perhaps a plunging neck line or even wear a cocktail dress with a short skirt to divert the eyes to her legs bypassing the bottom area.

Bottom heavy ladies could also choose a cocktail dress with a full skirt as this would disguise flabby thighs. A close fitting cocktail dress around the waist area and without padded seams around the mid-drift, with a flared skirt would be a good choice of dress.

Accessorizing is very important to help create a balanced effect to a woman's figure in addition to the correct choice of cocktail dress, for example, earrings and necklaces for women with bottom heavy figures, where as, top heavy women should avoid neck accessories and perhaps go for bracelets and rings. Remember, however, to choose your cocktail dress before the accessories.
